Worry Less About Ice Build-Up in Your Gutters

Heated gutters protect the roof and gutters from snow and ice damage. Roof deicing is a convenient solution to the ever present danger of ice dams building up on your roof, specifically in your gutter. Worrying about the safety of your roof and gutter is something you could easily do without. Installing roof deicing cables offers the warming power to keep ice build-up to a minimum or eliminating it altogether. Having a heated roof keeps your home safe from damage that can occur from shattered gutters or water leaking beneath your roof tiles, freezing, expanding, and chipping away at the stability and safety of your existing roof.

Radiant roof heating cables can be strung kinda like Christmas lights and offer around the clock roof deicing and protection. Roof deicing cables are a safeguard for your property and allow you to worry about other pressing things during the long winter months. When you have a radiant heated roof you can keep your mind off your gutters, knowing they are being guarded with warmth, forbidding ice to accumulate so that it never becomes a problem. Roof deicing is almost as critical as clearing snow from your driveway. It is as much about safety as it is about protecting your home and your loved ones. Plenty of things can be damaged by the heavy snow fall, but lucky for us, shattered gutters and damaged roofs can be avoided with the simple addition of radiant heating roof cables.

Roof Deicing Can Minimize Property Damage

Our hierarchy of needs is quite basic. We want shelter, food, and to feel safe. Yet thousands of homes are unprotected from the lurking dangers of ice dams and icicles. The roof is the basic structure that lends itself to our shelter and still we go about our daily lives leaving our beloved roof without a shield of defense against potentially damaging ice and water.

Roof in need of a radiant roof deicing systemWhen the snow on your roof accumulates ice dams and icicle formations can result. This often leads to leaks, structural damage or even internal damage and mold. When icicles finally drop off or fall, this can lead to more roof mayhem, deck damage, and perhaps most dangerous of all - people safety issues. It doesn't take much for heavy ice and snow to damage your roof gutters, but this can be prevented with the installation of a gutter melt system, featuring self-regulating heat cable. Heated roofs offer an insurance of sorts against the many hazards of Old Man Winter.

Protecting your shelter and loved ones with a roof deicing system offers freeze protection throughout the harsh winter months, giving you peace of mind that being outside on a sunny, crisp day in January won’t result in any sneaky or wayward icicles dropping on you or anyone you care about. There are roof heating systems for all types of applications, including new construction, remodeling, or existing roofs. Roof deicing can extend the life of your shelter and possibly even prevent serious injuries.

Radiant Roof Heating Systems

Protect Your Roof From Ice and Water Damage

Most communities in the higher elevations are prone to heavy snowfalls each winter. Many of these towns are skiing getaways and the owners do not live at the houses on a full-time basis. So these homes may sit vacant for months at a time, and the snow buildup on the roofs can lead to disastrous consequences.

It doesn’t take a lot of snowfall to produce dangerously heavy snow buildup that causes undue stress on a roof. Another problem is caused by ice damming. As the snow melts and then freezes again, it can cause ice dams on the roof. Prolonged ice damming can cause moisture to seep through roofing materials into roof decking and eventually find its way inside, damaging ceilings, walls and floors, resulting in mold growth. In extreme cases, the heavy ice and snow can even cause structural damage.

It’s also not uncommon to have large icicles hanging from the corners of the roof. This presents a serious situation that can totally destroy the gutters and downspouts. Needless to say, this can get expensive if it becomes a regular occurrence. The good news is that these winter hazards can be avoided. Radiant roof heating systems are a great way to protect roofs and gutters from water and structural damage. And best yet is that these maintenance-free roof heating systems are fully automated, so they are especially valuable when no one is around.

The heating elements are activated by a sensor when weather conditions warrant, melting the snow and protecting your roof, even when you’re not there. Radiant heating has proven to be the premier solution for not only heating roofs, but also for heating homes (radiant heated floors) and driveway snow melting. Roof Heating Systems Gain Popularity

The Wonderful Technology of Radiant Heat

Throughout our history we have learned to develop new ways of increasing our comfort and convenience. It's in our nature to invent things that make our lives easier. Think about the advancements in transportation. We used to rely on horses to get around. Then there were cars; then planes, etc. Technology marches on, and with it come the benefits of radiant heat.

Early homes were rudimentary structures that protected us from the elements, but offered little else in terms of comfort. Yet our homes have also reflected our advancements in technology. First, we had the fireplace, and then came central heating systems. The latest home heating innovation is the time-tested, yet only recently adopted technology of radiant floor heating. Radiant heat is used to not only warm the floors, but the whole home as well.

Radiant heat systems are also commonly used for snowmelt applications. Many homeowners install gutter melt and roof deicing systems to prevent dangerous ice buildup and protect their roofs. These roof heating systems have proven to be more valuable than most of us realize. By preventing snow and ice buildup on our roofs, these radiant systems help to prevent structural damage and can extend the life of your roof, as well as eliminate dangerous icicles.

Just as we have developed ways of preventing frozen pipes through the use of pipe tracing we have developed ways of preventing damaging ice buildup through the use if roof heating. Every year, many are faced with damage caused by ice buildup on the roof, but it doesn't have to be this way. Roof heating cable can provide a means of preventing this concern. A roof gutter melt system will prevent that heavy ice accumulation that so often leads to broken gutters or worse.

Homes in the higher elevations would be well advised to acquire this convenience. It’s a matter of time before it is more than just a convenience. A radiant heated roof may save you from fairly serious damage due to ice buildup.
