RoofHeat Deicing Panels

Melt Snow and Ice at the Roof's Edge with Automated Roof Heating Panels

The radiant roof deicing panels are efficient roof heating systems designed to eliminate icicles, ice dams, and snow at the roof’s edge. By preventing ice dams from forming, the innovative roof snow and ice melting systems can reduce or eliminate property damage caused by the inability of roofs to drain water during winter months because of ice dams, and thereby extend the life of your roof.

Roof heating panels keep roof edges free from snow and ice. The roof heating systems feature self-regulating heat cable that is channeled into an aluminum panel that is designed for maximum heat transfer. Each panel is powder-coated with a durable finish (in a wide variety of colors) to complement the aesthetics of your home. When mounted to your roof eaves and/or valleys, the roof heating systems eliminate ice and snow in those areas, enhancing safety and reducing risk of winter damage.

You can also retrofit an existing metal roof by placing the aluminum roof heating panels directly on top of the old roof. The aluminum alloy panel is in direct contact with the self-regulating heat cable at all times, resulting in efficient roof heating that eliminates roof snow and dangerous icicles.

Automated Roof Heating

Automated roof heating systems feature a main controller and sensor that activates the snowmelt system only when moisture is detected and the temperature is below 39° F. This provides an extremely cost-effective solution for large areas of roof snow and ice melting. The Warmzone master control unit is the premier snowmelt control unit in the industry and is suitable for residential and commercial applications.

Components

Heating Element
The heating element consists of the self-regulating heat cable that is installed in the aluminum panel to melt snow and ice from your roof and/or gutters. The panels are available in a stock selection of colors; or you can pick virtually any custom color to coordinate with new or existing roofs. The powder coating provides a durable, attractive finish to complement the look of your home.

Aerial mounted snow sensor. Activation Device

Outdoor temperature sensors are intended for use on roofs and in roof gutters, while moisture sensors and wire sensors are normally fitted inside gutters where the melted runoff collects. The actual number and placement depends on the size and nature of the particular roof heating installation. (In addition to aerial mounted snow sensors, pavement mounted sensors are also available. These are more commonly used for heated driveway systems.)

When the snow sensor detects specific weather conditions, it automatically signals the contactor panel, activating the system when needed and shutting it off afterwards. The weatherproof thermostat provides temperature control for large and small areas.

Contactor Panel

The controls include line and load terminal blocks and operating contactors. The roof heating control unit features manual override capability to provide snow and ice melting for all outdoor applications (and can be upgraded to include GFEP protection).
